About
Who is behind Parages
Parages is an independent project, designed and built by Victor Aubague. No big company, no investors to resell your data to. Just one conviction: you can find your friends without being tracked.
The author
Victor Aubague is also the creator of TacTac-GPS. Parages carries the same obsession further: location tools that are genuinely useful, yet respect your privacy by default, not as an option. The app is in pre-launch, and this site documents honestly what it does and what it will never do.
Our method
Parages computes proximity directly on your phone. Your location is never sent to a server, never shared, never stored. That is privacy-by-design: data that never leaves the device cannot leak, be sold, or be requested by a third party. You note where your friends live in an encrypted book only you can read, and the app nudges you when you pass near one of them.
What we commit to
- ✓The proximity check stays on your phone.
- ✓No live location shared, with anyone.
- ✓No history of your trips.
- ✓Your book is encrypted, visible to you alone.
- ✓No ads, no data sold.
- ✓Code and method explained publicly, without jargon.
What we build on
Our approach follows established principles: data minimisation (GDPR, article 5), privacy-by-design as formalised by Ann Cavoukian (2009), and on-device computation (edge computing) instead of servers. These are not marketing promises, they are verifiable technical choices.
